Its so crazy how one day can change your whole life, your plan, your ideas on who you are...3 years ago I received news that I never expected in my life. I was diagnosed with breast cancer. If it wasn't for my Husband Ralph, my parents Nancy and John, my brother John and the rest of my family and friends being there for me and supporting me I don't know what I would have done. I felt like a gigantic wave just came over my life and took my breath away.
Being diagnosed with breast cancer is not what a 28 year old needs when she is planning a wedding, finally in her happy place and at the point in her life she has been waiting for. I couldn't wait to begin my life with the man I love. I have hit numerous bumpy roads and been on crazy rollercoasters and I didn't think there was anything so terrible left to go through. This had to be the longest road I have ever had to travel and I was only strong because all the positive people around me.
Nothing held me down and I made it to the top!! I came out of this terrible nightmare stronger and braver then I could ever have imagined. I thought my life my over, I wanted to give up so many times and I am so happy I never did!
Two years after my diagnosis my husband was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Just when we thought things would slow down we got hit again! Thankfully he was ok and everything was taken care of.
Today I still struggle with anger and that question 'why me' but then I take a step back and realize I'm living my life with my family and friends and I am healthy. There is nowhere to go but forward!
My message to everyone is 'Never Give Up' it gets easier.
